How it works
Add who you're praying for
Type who is on your heart and what they're facing, and save it. That is the whole of it — it is on your list from that second, and it stays yours.
Pray through your list
Everyone you're currently praying for, grouped by what they're going through, so you are not trying to hold the whole list in your head.
Keep track of how it went
Surgery went well. The results came back. Write it down, and it stays with that person — so you can look back at what you prayed for and what happened.

If you belong to a parish or group, you decide what to pass on to them. Everything else simply stays on your own list.
There is no advertising in Prayer Chain, no algorithm deciding what you see, and nothing about you is sold or shared. It is a prayer list, not a social network.

The people who pray most faithfully are often the ones squinting at their phones. One tap makes every name and note substantially larger, and another turns the whole app dark for evening prayer.
There is no settings maze to get there — both live in the main menu, right where someone will actually find them.
Questions
A prayer you add for yourself is yours. Nobody else sees it, and nobody is notified about it.
Your prayers are stored on our server so they follow you between your phone, your tablet and any device you sign in on, and so nothing is lost if you drop your phone in the lake. They are not sold, not advertised against, and not read.
No. Plenty of people use Prayer Chain purely as their own prayer list. If a parish or group you belong to runs a chain, you can join theirs as well and see their requests alongside your own.
As long as you like. Each request carries a number of days — thirty to begin with — and you can set it to whatever suits, so a short illness and a long one are both handled properly. The app counts the days down for you, and when they run out the request moves to your prior requests rather than vanishing.
Yes. Add a note whenever something changes and it stays with that person, so you can look back over what you prayed for and what happened.
If a family is keeping a page of their own — a care-updates site, for instance — you can record the link so it is one tap away rather than lost in an old email.
Only if you ask it to. You choose the times of day you would like a reminder to pray, and you can choose none at all — in which case the app never interrupts you. If you belong to a group's chain, you can also decide whether to hear about new requests there.
The app handles it gently. A person can be marked as deceased, their prayer history is kept, and where a family has published an obituary the link can sit alongside it. People are not simply deleted from a prayer chain.
It will run in a desktop browser, but it is built for the phone or tablet in your pocket, and reminders work properly there. If you would rather use it on a computer, get in touch and we will help you set it up.

Prayer Chain began as a parish prayer chain, and it still is one. If you look after a church, an AA chapter, a grief support group or a book club, a subscription gives your people a shared chain — so one request, once approved, reaches every member's device at once.
